Catching up with the old boss

I spent some time catching up with my old boss the other day.

Encore Tampa Bay, an organization that helps people find their second careers, asked me to write about Jack Sheppard's story. The organization is collecting success stories, hoping to inspire others who change careers.

I won't fully recap Jack's story here since you can follow the link, but I knew much of it from having worked with him for 21 years at the St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay Times. Still, hearing him talk about the things he learned since leaving the newspaper business and going to work for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay and the way he is applying his skills in a new job was exciting.

To quote a favorite phrase, "Get 'er done, Jack."
