A test of loyalty

I've long been a newspaper guy and have tried to reward newspaper advertisers with my wine purchases.

I rarely buy wine at ABC Liquors any more because in recent years they haven't been advertising in the paper. The passenger seat in my car often has Total Wine or Luekens coupons for use the next time I go by, but the coupons Total Wine emails me? I generally ignored.

But of late, they've upped the ante.

Twice lately they've emailed me offers of a bottle of wine priced under $20 for a penny. Then, they started emailing me a $30 off coupon on a $200 purchase, twice the discount as the newspaper coupon offer. Those deals were too good to pass up.

As much as I want to support my local paper, I'll be paying more attention to those email offers.
